Iconic Tattoos Virginia
35+ Years Tattooing. Japanese, Buddhist, and Asian-inspired
The Artist
Matthew Wojciechowski
Matthew began his apprenticeship in Houston in 1988 under Richard Stell , one of the defining figures of American Traditional tattooing and the same artist who later apprenticed Oliver Peck. He has been tattooing professionally since 1990. That's the foundation everything else is built on.
His focus is Japanese, Buddhist, Hindu, Nepali, and Asian-inspired work, executed through an American lens. Bold outlines, strong light source, large-scale pieces designed to work with the body. Not decorative. Not trendy. Built to last.
Since 1992, Matthew has worked conventions and guest spots across the US and internationally, Houston, Austin, New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Mexico, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Egypt, India, and Nepal and others. His work has been published in Tattoo, International Tattoo Art, Tattoo Planet, and Tätowiermagazin... He has shown fine art at Diverse Works in Houston, been interviewed for documentaries, and quoted in newspapers worldwide on the state and direction of tattooing. The work has been tested everywhere.
